Restored "Iggy Normous" Cave Troll

In the 1960s, the largest Dam dolls on the market were known as the "Iggy Normous" trolls.  They were anywhere from 10.5 to 12 inches in height (not including the hair).  Probably the best known of the Iggy Normous Trolls was Dam's Cave Troll.  This 1964 version of the Cave Troll originally had a 2-inch, (cream colored) plastic, sharp-tooth or bear-claw piece hanging from his neck.  "Ugh" was missing this before I got him - so, I replaced it with an authentic Bison (American Buffalo) tooth.  White Icelandic mohair now takes the place of his once rotting gray hair.  Real rabbit fur, dyed in a leopard pattern, now covers his body - instead of the original deteriorating costume.

Hi can you tell me where you got replacement hair and does it decrease value of a troll with replaced hair?

In my opinion, the best replacement hair for 1960's era trolls can be purchased on eBay from "terrelltimm". He sells the natural (authentic) Icelandic hides that were used in the original trolls.

If the hair on your troll is rotten or severely damaged - and authentic Icelandic hair is PROPERLY replaced by someone who knows what he/she is doing - it can actually increase the value of the doll. If the hair is in good-to-excellent condition, it is probably best left alone.

Thank you for asking, Lindsey!

As kids we called these iggys. I guess we got the name from Iggy Normus. Is iggy Normus the maker?

Iggy Normus was the name given for the largest non-animal trolls created by Thomas Dam and sold on the commercial market. They were marketed mostly in the US, the UK, New Zealand and Denmark. They are just BIG, loveable Dam trolls!
